About Drogmi Buddhist Institute

Drogmi Buddhist Institute was formally incorporated in October 2009, with the aim to promote the understanding, study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism in Australia, in line with the Great Sakya Tradition, under the guidance and support of His Holiness the Sakya Trizin. The centre is open to all who are interested in the precious Dharma and its teachings.

The centre is managed by a Committee of students who are committed to supporting Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe in his teaching and vision for Drogmi Buddhist Institute.

Drogmi Buddhist Institute is a member of the Buddhist Council of NSW.

Our founder and teacher

The founder and spiritual director of Drogmi Buddhist Institute is Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe, a monk for more than 40 years and highly respected in Australia and internationally for his profound knowledge and the clarity of his inspirational teachings. The title Khenpo is the equivalent of professor and given only to the most accomplished teachers.

Khenpo's teaching programme

Khenpo has taught all over Australia and internationally in the last 15 years, and maintains a busy schedule. He regularly gives talks and conducts meditation programmes in central and western Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the New South Wales south coast, Queensland and many other locations.
